Good afternoon!

Welcome to my April 2023 newsletter! I am so grateful for my connection with you, and a huge thank you to all of you who’ve joined me since my last newsletter!

Are you as thrilled as I am to watch new life bursting forth around you? The Carolina bass linden tree with whom I share space leafed out overnight in an electric chartreuse canopy, and the marsh is transitioning from rusty brown to emerald. Charlie, our neighborhood Great Blue Heron, has returned for the summer.

The coming of Spring, the spinning of the celestial wheel, makes me think about how so much of who we are today is founded on culture, beliefs, and mythologies from days long ago. Thinking about mythology made me think of archetypes, which made me think of the symbolism of Tarot keys, which has led to the course you’ve asked me to teach!

Let’s look at The Empress Key as an example. In Greek mythology, the goddess Demeter is a mother archetype, the mother of abundant life. Demeter oversees the planting of seeds in spring, the plants growing in summer, and the harvest of crops in autumn. She then lays the earth to rest in winter, to lay fallow.  There’s much more to Demeter’s story, which we’ll discuss in the upcoming course. As an archetype, she lives in all of us as we plan, nurture, and harvest our intentions.

Just One More Thing Before You Go

The holiday of Beltane, or May Day, is celebrated on April 30/May 1. May you dance around a Maypole in joy!  Beltane reminds us that the seeds we sow must be tended and nurtured so that there is a fruitful harvest in autumn. I’m spending considerable time over the next few weeks contemplating what I’ve planted in my life, and how I will nurture and tend to those seeds.  I wish you time to do the same!
