All We Have is NOW- April 2025
Time, Writer-in-Residency, Sacred Geometry Course, writing update & so much more
Time, ya’ll, time. Time is such a gift, and I know how often I forget that, and take time for granted. Do you?
Do you feel like every day is hurry-up-and-wait? What do you do to help you stay fully present in the moment? One way I try to be present is to watch the breathtaking light dance across the newly unfurled leaves on the Carolina Basswood Linden tree in front of my house. The glowing leaves belie the cold wind that’s blowing today. I’m so ready for spring to really arrive, but realize I miss the moment when I am impatient. Be here now, said Baba Ram Dass.
Spring holidays, however, know and understand the passage of time, and arrive exactly when they’re supposed to, based on ancient and celestial calendars. The Vernal Equinox and spring celebrations and rituals in many world beliefs occur on dates that have been calculated for millennia, and I rejoice.
So ponder this: all we have is NOW, this moment. What are you doing with it?
I’m so happy to connect with you and I’m grateful that you subscribe to this newsletter! If you missed my last newsletter, you can read it here.

Writer-in-Residency Programs
I’m so excited! As you read this, I am preparing to travel to Arkansas. I’m honored to have been awarded a writer-in-residency retreat at The Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow. I’m grateful to my friend Drew in New York for telling me about it and recommending me to the Writers Colony. I am grateful to my friends Jane and Carol for agreeing to take such good care of me when I arrive. I’ll tell you all about the experience when I return.
A year ago, I was awarded a writer-in-residency opportunity at Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities in Southern Pines, NC. I wrote about this wonderful experience and the great new friends I made in last April’s newsletter: April 2024.
Several years ago, I was awarded a writer-in-residency opportunity at Wildacres Retreat Center in Little Switzerland, NC. What a lovely experience, even though I worried unnecessarily about bears! I’m so glad to know the beautiful place survived Hurricane Helene fairly well. However, as I write this, Wildacres Retreat Center and the surrounding areas have been evacuated as a wildfire burns. Please hold that area in light.
While the sea and the marsh are my primary writing inspirations, it helps me to sometimes see them from afar, and I’m grateful for these opportunities. I hope my “I’m taking too many projects” dilemma will work itself out!
Art in Nature: Sacred Geometry: Upcoming Course!
Registration Opens May 2
Many of you have requested that I teach my Sacred Geometry course again, and I’m happy to oblige! In this course we’ll not only explore sacred geometry in nature around us, but in our own bodies, how points on Earth are connected by a network of ley lines whose patterns defy explanation, and why all of this matters in today’s world.
Mark your calendar for registration information coming May 2 in this newsletter and on my website. This three-session course is scheduled for May 13, 20, 27.
Pictured above, left to right: the iron cover on the well at Chalice Well Gardens, which is a stylized depiction of the Vesica Pisces, the basic building block of sacred geometry; the interior of a Chambered Nautilus, and a cone from what is believed to be the oldest living longleaf pine tree on the continent, located on the grounds of Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities. Both the shell and the pine cone perfectly depict the Divine Ratio.
I hope you’ll join my course to learn how sacred geometry matters in YOUR life!
Writing Update
My forthcoming book! I’ve been working with the publisher’s marketing team to develop the best ways to tell you how you can get a copy. The cover reveal and pre-order information is coming soon! The book is beautiful and I can’t wait for you to see it.
I’m co-writing a play! We’ve finished the first draft. A table read is scheduled, and we’re excited to listen to the words we’ve written be spoken by a group of talented actors.
I’m working on a poetry collection.
I’m working on an environmental essay.
I’ve started packing for the writer-in-residency program I mentioned above.
