Special April Edition: A Doorway Into Promise
Dear ,
I know I promised not to blow up your mailbox, but you’ll find this SPECIAL EDITION of my newsletter in early April full of comfort, insight, and hope.
We are walking through a new doorway into promises from which we will emerge better, kinder, and more deeply connected than we have ever been. Many of these changes are positive, and are for our highest good individually, as a society, and as a planet.
Let me share some thoughts and suggestions for you that are sustaining me.
So much is changing so quickly around us. New language (who knew “social distancing” just a week or so ago?). New rules and laws (isolation and curfews). New fears and rumors (I heard you can catch it from….). New ways of working, of living with loved ones, of communicating with friends, of shopping…. The list of “new” seems endless. And yet, so much of what is happening is propelling us to think and act “old.”
“Neighbors and friends” are words with deeper meaning these days. I’m sharing food with friends. One bakes bread. Another offers lettuce. They leave these on my porch, where cookies await them. My sister braves the grocery store and the pop-up farmers market for me. I share some of the bread and lettuce and homemade granola with her.
We blow each other kisses and bow “namaste” through the glass door that connects my porch to my house.
I’ve friends who have never gardened starting to plant vegetables. I’m freezing food I never before thought of freezing. I’m cooking more “from scratch” and more nutritiously. I am more conscious about wasting anything.
I’ve developed a new sense of what I “need” versus what I “want.”
I’ve read reports that the ozone layer is healing itself, that pollution levels in the skies over major cities have plummeted as a result of fewer cars on the road, and of other positive global changes occurring as a result of us all just being still. Why is that so hard? Can we strive to once again be human “beings” rather than human “doings?”
I read quite a bit about people being bored while we are isolated. I am never bored. Sitting on the porch listening to the birds entertains me for hours. Offering up prayers of gratitude can fill my nights. My list of things I want to learn can fill Google. Catching up with friends over the telephone is a blessing.
As you may know, however, that while I am grateful for the technology that allows us to connect instantly from around the planet, I use technology kicking and screaming. I don’t own a television or know how to operate a microwave or dishwasher. I don’t have an electric can opener or an electric coffee pot. I drive an old car. I read old-fashioned books written on paper that I purchased from local bookstores whose owners know me.
And yet…. I could do so much better at working toward simplifying my life and truly help save the planet. And I’ve been trying to do that for a long time. Now I need to do more.
So, here’s my invitation to you: walk through the doorway into promises with me.
Walk through the doorway in promise to be kinder to yourself, your loved ones, your friends, your coworkers, and the people you encounter.
Walk through the doorway in promise to live each moment more consciously, so that every action speaks of your commitment to all beings and Mother Earth herself.
Walk through the doorway in promise to be aware that we share Mother Earth with more beings than we can name or even know exist.
Walk through the doorway in promise to do your part for a better, kinder, more gentle world and the universe beyond.
My wish for you, as you walk through the doorway into promises for positive change, is that you make time to ponder your life and the world around you. I wish for you the opportunity to ask the question, “When this is over, who will I be?” I hope your answer brings you hope and joy.
Here’s the link to the Special MP3 meditation I’ve recorded entitled “A Doorway Into Promises”.
I want this newsletter to be informative and helpful to you, so please let me know how I’m doing! I’m so grateful that you have taken a course or workshop with me, listen to my podcasts, have emailed me, had a reading with me, or subscribe to my blog. I’m so excited to connect with you!

April Full Moon Musings
The Moon is full on Tuesday, April 7 at 10:34 pm eastern time. She’s full in the sign of Libra, which is the lunar sign opposite the current solar sign of Aries.
Libra is, of course, about balance, and we certainly need some balance on Mother Earth right now! The political, economic, emotional, physical, and spiritual pendulums have swung wildly for quite a while now. Let’s look to this Full Moon to help us find our center.
Remember that Full Moon energy is all about the Mother phase of the Moon’s journey through the sky. She is the unselfish giver of so much, and our response needs to be one of gratitude. This Full Moon would be a great time to go outside, be still, and give thanks for the many blessings in your life.
If you’re planning a Full Moon ritual, think about creating a virtual circle in which you celebrate relationships and kinship with all other beings, and Mother Earth Herself.
Keep in mind that this Full Moon also marks the beginning of the Jewish holiday of Passover, which commemorates freedom from bondage, safe passage out of oppression, and hope for a brighter future.
May we all be blessed.
Crystal Meditation: Amethyst
Amethyst is such a versatile stone and has been used for millennia for so much. I could do a monthly newsletter for months just on the topic of Amethyst. However, this writing is brief because I want to focus on one aspect of the work Amethyst does for us.
Amethyst is called the All-Healer. When we work with Amethyst – setting our intention for the highest good of
all and the healing of the world around us – wonderful changes can occur. Amethyst was described as early as 315 B.C. and is named for a Greek term that means “not drunken.”
Amethyst is said to help raise vibrations to higher frequencies of both the spiritual and ethereal levels, according to Melody. It is a great stone for meditation, in that it aids in bringing calmness. It opens and activates the crown chakra. It clears the aura. It brings about peace and balance and provides a connection between Earth and other worlds.
The picture is my very simple altar requesting global healing from this terrible virus. If I’m awake, the candle is lighted. The words in the frame are from Isak Dinesen: “The cure for everything is saltwater: sweat, tears, or the sea.”
I hope you’ll join me in creating your own space for setting intentions for healing.

JUST ONE MORE THING BEFORE YOU GO: Open the door!
Although we may be physically isolated, the door to my heart is open and I’m honored to share space with you! YOU are the reason I do the work I do. Knowing that in some small way, my offerings make a difference for you keeps me going. I am overwhelmed by the many kind emails and Facebook comments I get from you every day.
You know how much I love the sea. I watch the vastness of the water and the single drops and know they are each other and are me and you and our connection. Think of the sea as the gigantic family we’ve created by connecting to each other. I believe deeply that when we send out a droplet of connection, it flows into a larger and larger ocean of energy, and we embrace more and more of us around the planet. No matter how – or how often – we connect, I believe there is a divine reason, and I trust it.
I look forward to hearing from you, and so appreciate YOU!!!
BLESS YOU, , for reading my newsletter!
